Reset user MFA

POST

/admin/auth/users/{userId}/mfa/_reset

Required scope: user:update

Removes the user's authenticator, recovery codes and password, ends every sign-in, and mails a link to set up both again.

Parameters

userId string

The authenticator was reset and the link sent.

Error code	Description
`auth.invitation.mail-failed`	The authenticator was already reset, but the mail could not be sent; reset again to send another link.
`auth.invitation.not-signed-in`	The user does not sign in with a password yet; send an invitation instead.
`auth.invitation.too-many-requests`	Too many links were sent to this user recently.
`auth.user.credentials-managed-elsewhere`	The user also belongs to other tenants or is a system administrator; only a system administrator can manage their credentials.
`auth.user.interactive-sign-in-required`	Credentials can only be managed from a signed-in session.
`auth.user.not-found`	No such user in this tenant.
